Deranged Acidsight: Embracing Chaos and Creativity Through Colorblindness

As a colorblind artist, every painting I create is an adventure, a challenge, and a testament to how I navigate the vibrant world of color in my own unique way. Deranged Acidsight, a 12” by 12” acrylic painting on canvas panel, is one of my most experimental pieces—an exploration of texture, movement, and the way colors interact in ways I may not fully perceive but still deeply feel.
This piece was created through a chaotic yet intentional process. I splattered, dabbed, and used a paster to drag paint down the canvas, allowing colors to mix organically as gravity dictated their flow. The end result is a wild, almost hallucinatory landscape of swirling, dripping hues, layered with intense texture and energy.

Visually, Deranged Acidsight is a mesmerizing storm of colors and movement. Black, blue, and hints of red form a fractured background, reminiscent of shattered glass or distorted digital noise. Over this, vivid streaks of green, yellow, and pale blue cascade in irregular waves, almost like melting neon or corroding chemical trails. The layered paint creates a tactile, almost sculptural quality, making the surface as chaotic to the touch as it is to the eye.
Thematically, this piece dives into the concept of insanity and altered states of perception—hence the name. The unpredictable flow of paint and the clash of colors evoke the feeling of a mind unraveling, seeing the world through a distorted, fragmented lens. While I don’t personally experience color in the same way as most, I embrace the unexpected outcomes of my work, allowing my unique vision to shape the art rather than hinder it.
Ultimately, Deranged Acidsight is about breaking free from limitations—whether they be physical, mental, or artistic. It’s a celebration of expression through chaos, a reminder that creativity thrives in the unexpected.
What do you see when you look at this piece? Do the colors and textures evoke any emotions or thoughts? I’d love to hear your interpretations!
