Who Is Jeremy Faivre?
Hi, I’m Jeremy! I’m an artist who spends most of my time creating imaginative and dynamic art. When I'm not making something I consider a total disaster, I'm crafting really cool and unique images straight from my imagination. I also have the ability to paint and draw realistically from photo references, but to be honest, that gets boring for me. I thrive on challenges that push my creativity and skills to the next level.
Painting from imagination forces me to solve complex problems and stretches my abilities to their limits—this is what truly excites me about art. Before I begin any piece, I already have a vision or blueprint in my head of the image I want to create.
My life has been a rollercoaster of highs and lows, and ironically, it's in the lowest moments that I produce my most meaningful work. These moments fuel my drive because I know the imagery I create can resonate with someone else who’s also going through a tough time.
I’ve studied the works of Van Gogh, my all-time favorite artist, and I deeply admire his courage to stay true to his unique voice, even when it didn’t fit societal norms. To me, it’s vital to reveal your true self in both life and art.
When you create art, you're speaking to someone out there—maybe someone who is struggling or someone who won’t be born for centuries. Your art becomes a testament to your time, but more importantly, if you're authentic, it can help someone feel less alone. They’ll see themselves reflected in your work, in who you are.
Everything I create, whether it's a drawing or painting, holds a deep connection to my life. Every piece is tied to a personal experience—whether it’s good, bad, or ugly. If my art can connect with someone who’s suffering and help them through their own struggles, I’ll consider my life’s work complete. My art is a piece of me, my legacy, my life story, and my artistic voice.
When I’m not in my studio, I’m probably blasting punk rock music, devouring Chinese food, or binge-watching cooking shows. I also love to cook, build things, go running, sew stuffed animals, and spend time in nature soaking in the scenery. And occasionally, you’ll find me falling off a skateboard too!
Artist Statement
My name is Jeremy Faivre, and through my artwork, I aim to create and define a new genre that merges the fluidity of Post-Impressionism with the dreamlike qualities of Surrealism. Each of my pieces are infused with bold, contrasting colors, dynamic brushstrokes, and intricate highlights that invite the viewer to explore deeper layers of meaning. Working primarily on canvas, I use a range of mediums—including acrylics, oils, soft pastels, and oil pastels—to craft fine art that is both unique and deeply personal.
Much like the visual impact of tattoos, I approach my art with an intensity designed to captivate from a distance. The sharp contrasts and vibrant hues create a "pop" effect, catching the eye and drawing in the viewer. But as you move closer, more intimate details begin to reveal themselves—subtle highlights and layered textures that weren't immediately apparent. This journey from the bold to the intricate mirrors the complexity of the themes I explore, often touching on pressing global issues and social concerns.
Before I begin a painting, I already have a clear vision of the piece in my mind. It's more than just an idea—it's a compelling force that drives me to bring it to life. If I don’t, the vision lingers, demanding to be realized. I believe in the power of art to provoke thought, to challenge perceptions, and to start conversations—especially those that touch on uncomfortable but necessary topics. Through my work, I hope to engage viewers in dialogue, inspiring them to reflect on the world around them and their place within it.
Artist Biography
Jeremy Faivre’s artistic journey began in the vibrant atmosphere of his childhood, with his passion for art taking root in elementary school. It was in second grade that Jeremy first encountered the world of visual art, where a single classroom lesson became a pivotal moment. During an art class, Jeremy was introduced to the iconic works of Vincent Van Gogh. The vivid colors, emotional depth, and textured brushstrokes of Van Gogh’s paintings captivated the young artist’s imagination, sparking a lifelong admiration for the Dutch master. This early exposure would go on to deeply influence Jeremy’s own artistic development as an adult.
Yet, it wasn’t just Van Gogh that fueled Jeremy’s passion; a friendly rivalry with his best friend also played a crucial role. His friend’s work was often displayed in the school’s art showcases—an honor that eluded Jeremy. Though this lack of recognition could have discouraged him, it instead ignited a competitive spirit in Jeremy, driving him to improve his skills with determination and perseverance. He made it his mission to one day see his own artwork behind the same glass display case. From that moment on, Jeremy began sketching daily, both in and out of school. Whether it was in art class or other subjects, where his focus should have been elsewhere, Jeremy’s attention often drifted back to his sketchbook. Teachers, however, were supportive, recognizing his raw talent and encouraging his creative expression.
Jeremy’s first breakthrough came during his high school years. His speech teacher assigned a class presentation, and Jeremy seized the opportunity to incorporate his art into his project. He passed around his drawings as part of his talk on art, impressing both his peers and his teacher. This pivotal moment connected Jeremy with an author seeking an artist to create book covers. At just 16 years old, Jeremy landed his first paid commission, marking the beginning of his professional art career. This opportunity also pushed him to expand his horizons beyond sketching, as he began to explore the world of painting on canvas—a medium that would later define his signature style.
After graduating from high school, Jeremy’s artistic pursuits took a backseat for over eight years as he focused on other aspects of his life. However, in March 2023, Jeremy experienced a creative resurgence. He reignited his artistic career with the launch of Inky Arts Studioz, formally known as JeremyFaivreArts, marking a fresh chapter in his journey. Now, his modern works are a reflection of his deep-rooted admiration for Post-Impressionism and Surrealism, with Van Gogh’s influence still evident in his vibrant colors and emotional intensity.
Today, Jeremy’s art is characterized by a blend of these two genres, weaving together the expressive brushstrokes of Post-Impressionism with the dreamlike qualities of Surrealism. His work not only honors the early influences that shaped his artistic identity but also showcases his evolution as an artist—one whose dedication, competitive spirit, and passion have driven him from childhood sketches to the creation of compelling, modern masterpieces.
